Identify the definitions of military theory, air and space doctrine, objectives and strategy (SOB1.1)
Military Theory- Knowledge, principles and assumptions, based on historical experience and analysis, used to predict and explain the nature and/or behavior of war.
Air and Space Doctrine- sanctioned BELIEFS, warfighting principles, and terminology that describes and GUIDES the proper use of air and space forces in military ops.
Objectives- A specific statement of a desired end describing WHAT a military force wants to accomplish
Strategy- A PLAN of military of action, originating in policy, and shaped by situation-specific variables; answers HOW an objective will be accomplished
Identify Examples of Contextual and Operational Elements (SOB2.1)
Contextual Elements (External) - Not controlled by commanders but are subject to varying degrees of influene. Examples; political, international, sociocultural, economics, leadership, environmental, public opinion.

Operational Elements (Internal) - Commanders have a greater degree of control, examples; logistical, technological, informational, targeting science, deception, training

Summarize airpower development through the end of WWI (SOB4.1)
The ideas of air superiority, interdiction, and CAS emerged. Airpower was used for ISR purposes initially. Some strategic bombardment ideas emerged. Some failures was the use of airpower as a ground forces support weapon and airpower not being controlled by one person.
Identify examples of the operational functions of air and space power from the history of WWI, and articulate what distinctive capability they would support (SOB4.2)
Air Superiority- A large percent of the aircraft were used in the destruction of German Air Forces
Information Superiority- Baloons and airplanes were used as information gathering aircraft to plot the enemy's position.
