Competition emerges, members are closed-minded and accused of not listening, all subgroups via for leadership, group cohesion is weakened, some members who contributed in the first two stages fall silent, cliques take on great importance, hidden agendas are slowly revealed, group still lacks an identity, need for structure is strong, roles are very important. Hardest stage to get out of.

1) Clear Objectives- Reason for being together defined by group goals. 2) Openness- All group members openly contribute ideas and opinions. 3) Trust and Support- Confidence in the integrity, ability and good character of other group members, with trust members feel free to contribute 4) Cooperation and Conflict- Clear objective communicated openly and honestly facilitates support and trust. Competition is constructive. 5) Competence- knowledge and skill exist that are necessary to accomplish the job. 6) Individual Development- Something the team gives back to the individual. 7) Leadership- Motivates the group
