subdivided phonological loop into that and articulatory process.

Gave participants two tasks, task one was occupying central executive, e.g statement B is followed by A and shown letters AB and asked true or false. Task 2 involved aritculatory lopp ege repeat the or both central exec and articulatory loop or no additional task. Task one slower when task two involved central exec. performance not effected when two different componants are used.
Baddely et al (1975a)
WLE. Longer words cant be rehearsed because they dont fit in the loop. Phonological lopp holds infro that you can say in 2 seconds. People cope better with short words.
Shallice and Warrington (1970)
KF- STM works independant of LTM. He had no problem with long term learning but immediate memory was impaired. his STM forgetting auditory information than that of visual and auitory problems limited in respect to verbal material eg letters and digits but not sounds. Brain damage restricted to phonological loop.
Eslinger and Damasio (1985)
Studied EVR-had brain tumour. Performed well on tests requiring reasoning - CE intact. However had poor decision making skills-spend ages deciding what to eat. -CE not fully intact. CE probs more complex than suggested, everything not explained
