work a lot on nor-epinepherine; cardiotoxic, weight gain, VERY narrow safety margin. Elavil used a lot now for ppl w/peripheral neuropathy. Tofranil is used for bedwetting enuresis

SSRI
|
Prozac granddaddy. Work well, pretty safe, black box warning for suicide for teens and very young adults. Can cause GI distress when first starting to take them. HA, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, anxiety.

SNRI
|
Can cause GI distress when first starting to take them. HA, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, anxiety.

Other Anti-depressants
|
wellbutrin works primarily with nor-epinepherine, lowers seizure threshold. Desyrel-very sedating, not habit forming; very serious male sexual SE priapism.

Mood Stabilizers

Sometimes atypicals are used in mood stabilization-
Lithium-narrow toxicity, Nausea, coarse tremors, early s/sx of toxicity Depakote-hard on liver Tegretol-hard on kidneys Gain weight on both Lamictal-Steven Johnson’s syndrome |
