Template matching
|
Store a separate template for each possible viewpoint of each object within a category. To recognize, find the template that best matches the input group of image features.

Why is simple template matching not possible?
|
There would need to be way too many templates stored. Example: The letter A. It can be written several different ways and would need a separate template for each.

Structural Description
|
Store a set of shape components and their geometrical relationships for each category of objects. To recognize, find the components that roughly describe the input group of image features, then find the category ob objects whose stored components best match these input components.
