make sure patient is sitting on edge of bed or raise the head of the bed

put on gloves

place cloth under patients chin

have your cup of water and moisten toothbrush and apply toothpaste

clean mouth incl. tongue

put toothbrush onto a clean cloth

hold basin under mouth of patient, give patient a drink of water and tell them to rinse and spit

wipe the patients mouth and removes the cloth from under their chin

rinse toothbrush, empty, rinse and dry the basin and put in designated dirty supply area

throw away paper and put cloth items in dirty linen bag

After above, Remove gloves and toss
