Business Requirements

Business Requirements are high-level needs or wants of an organization the fulfillment of which allow the organization to achieve its objectives. They usually describe what a system or a solution should do.


The business requirements are always written from the point of view of the client.


They are high level broad requirements yet detail oriented.


They are not organizational objectives but aid the organization to achieve its objectives.

Functional Requirements

Functional Requirements are the functions that the system must perform in order to fulfill the Business Requirements. Thus functional requirements are connected with the solution or software being developed. The functional requirements are always written from the point of view of the system. Hence, the Functional Requirements explain the how part of the project, i.e. how the software solution will be able to meet the needs of the organization.

Initiating Process Group

The processes performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project by obtaining authorization to start the project or phase.

Planning Process Group

Executing Process Group

Those processes performed to complete the work defined in the project management plan to satisfy the project specifications.
