Outlying Field Entry
1. Determine the duty runway

c. At break altitude IAW local SOP
d. Airspeed IAW local SOP
When at initial point:
3. Make the appropriate radio call
4. Fly from initial point toward runway maintain altitude and airspeed
5. Visually locate pattern traffic and obtain wind info
The Break
1. Establish proper interval
2. With interval, execute the break IAW local SOP
3. Roll into 45° AOB turn and maintain altitude
4. CHOP (L) — 300 ft-lbs
Verbally confirm airspeed below 150 kts:
5. LANDING GEAR — Lower
6. Halfway through the break turn, adjust AOB to est ¾ WTD on downwind
7. AIRSPEED — slow to 100 kts
8. Level off at pattern altitude using PAT principle:
a. P — ≈500+ ft-lbs
b. A — Stop descent by initially setting slightly nose-up attitude immediately followed by 100 kt level flight attitude
c. T — Retrim
Once wings-level on downwind:
