Coercive Power
Refers to the influence one has over another that results from threats, fear that affection will be revoked and one's tone of voice, or the perceived influence of these.
Reward Power
refers to power that is possessed thru giving something to another; rewards such as compliments, gifts, money, positions, affections, etc.
Legitimate Power
refers to influence that comes from being elected, selected, holding a position, or from traditional or cultural norms.
Expert Power
Means power that stems from one's knowledge and experience in a a specified field.
Referent Power
Means power that is the potential to influence others through charisma (or credibility), image, or personality.
Information or Persuasion Power
refers to the ability of some members to influence a group because of the information they are privy to, different from expert power
