An adverb is a word that changes or simplifies the meaning of a verb, adjective, other adverb, clause, or sentence expressing manner, place, time, or degree.



Adverbs typically answer questions such as how?, in what way?, when?, where?, and to what extent?


What is the position of adjectives that are modified by an adverb?

The adjective comes AFTER the noun. The adverb that is modifying the adjective comes before the adjective.



Quei bambini leggono un libro molto difficile.



difficile = adjective


molto = adverb that is modifying the adjective



The book is difficult (ie. difficult describes the book)



How difficult? molto. (ie molto describes the adjective, it is an adverb.)

This soup i very hot.

Questa minestra è tanto calda.



Tanto = adverb (BEFORE adjective)


Calda = adjective (AFTER nount)
