Open Door to China
- China was carved into spheres of influence in the late 19th century
- Secretary of State John Hay issued 1st open door note in September 1899, calling for equal economic opportunities in CHina
- Boxer Rebellion in Summer 1900
- Hay issued the 2nd open door note in July 1900 urging other powers to respect China's territorial integrity and administrative entry.
