Vascular Plant

any plant that uses roots, stems and leaves to move water throughout itself.

Non-Vascular Plant

any plant that does not have roots, stems and leaves. It must live in moist places absorb water from its environment.

Xylum

a vessel that carries water up into a plant.

Phloem

– a vessel that carries sugar down through a plan

Angiosperm

is a vascular plant that flowers and produces fruits

Gymnosperm

is a vascular plant that produces seeds not protected by fruit (CONES)

Monocot

is an Angiosperm with one cotyledon inside the seed, flower parts in multiples of three, and vascular tissues in random bundles

Dicot

Angiosperm with two cotyledons inside its seed, flower parts in multiples of four or five, and vascular bundles in rings.

Fungi

are not plants. They are not in the plant kingdom, because they do not make their own food. They are parasites, which means they feed off of other things.

Fertilization

when the male (sperm cells) meet with the female (egg cells). The two coming together starts the birth of a seed.

Structure

Something made up of a number of parts that are held or put together in a particular way.
