Cell Membrane

thin outer covering on both cells that allows some things in and some things out

Cell Wall

rigid outer covering on a plant cell that gives the plant cell its shape and stability

Nucleus

organelle in both cells that act as the "brain". It directs the functions of the cell. (Circular, typically in the middle)

Mitochondria

the powerhouse of the cell. These break down food to give the cell energy. (Peanut Shaped with zig-zag lines)

Cytoplasm

jelly like substance that holds all the organelles in place

Chloroplast

found only in the plant cell. This helps plants perform photosynthesis and gives plants their green color. (typically oval with little circular dotes inside)

Vacuoles

acts like a storage closet for the cell holding food, water, and waste (Animal Cells have multiple small ones while Plant Cells have one large one)

Semi-permeable

the words means that allowing half or some items in and out of the cell

Photosynthesis

the process by which plants make food.
