Theory
Cognitive development that all children progress through systematically with neuro-growth. At each stage major changes occur. Each stage consists of a general set of abilities which form a consisted, intergrated whole - gestalt. As a child grwos, new abilities added + new gestalt

Semi clinical interview. Partly a psychiatric interview - time consuming but more accurate

Preoperational stage
2-7 - use mental repetition to think, but limited by lack of consideration for other people.
Concrete operational
7-11 - begins to think logically
Formal operational reasoning
adolescence - cognitive development reaches its peak
