What happens to the momentum of 2 people who have different masses and they bump into each other. What happens to their total momentum
The momentum of each persons change due to collision but the total momentum of the two people remains constant
What happens to the momentum of two rollerbladders that push away from each other when they are at rest
When they push away from each other they move in opposite directions with equal but opposite momentum so that the total final momemtum is zero
What is an elastic collision. give an example
when the total momentum and the total kinetic energy is conserved. ex. player kicks a soccer ball
What is an inelastic collision. give an example
a collision when two objects stick together after colliding (ex. football player tackles another)
4. What happens to velocity and direction of a billiard ball (the ones you play pool with) when it hits a resting ball in an elastic, head on collision?
The second billard ball moves at the same direction as the first ball with a very high speed. The first ball continues in the same direction but its velocity decreases so that the momentum lost by the first ball is equal to and opposite the momentum gaind by the second ball
