National Association of Amateur Base Ball Players (NAABBP) - 1858

National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) - 1968
-112 member institutions in 2 divisions:
Div1 - 52 liberal arts institutions
Div2 - 60 bible colleges

-Focuses on "...a christian perspective."
Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) 1971-1982
-Established by women phys educators at colleges and universities across the country

-When the NCAA and NAIA expanded structure to include women's athletics the AIAW filed a lawsuit charging the NCAA with violation of anti-trust laws. This process eventually bankrupted the AIAW by 1982
Intercollegiate Football Conference (ICF)
-student organized and controlled in 1876 to establish rules for football. Began with 61 rules, 22 still govern the game today.

1) Students agreed to host a Thanksgiving Day game between the two best teams from the previous year.
