Perceptual Filter Model
The perceptual filter model demonstrates why messages commonly inaccurately received from sender to receiver. Aspects such as age, gender, beliefs (political/religious), attitudes, values, family, personal experiences and culture affect how messages are perceived.
Common tendencies in perception:
-we judge ourselves kinder than others
-influenced by the obvious rather than the subtle
-cling to 1st impressions
-Assume others are like us
-favor negative impressions
