Anesthesia
state produced by medications given intravenously intraspinally, subcutaneously, or by inhalation to create temporary partial to total loss of sensation and consciousness in a patient for invasive procedures such as surgery or painful diagnostic tests.
Circulating nurse
A registered nurse who coordinates and manages a wide range of activities before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Conscious sedation
