From lack of ptn. not calories
Low serum albumin --> edema
No Apolipoptn B 100 --> no VLDL --> Fatty Liver.
Still have subq fat. Bad CMI.
Marasmus
Not enough calories, serum albumin is normal, no edema, old man appearance. Bad CMI.
Anorexia Nervosa
Can cause hypokalemia* --> sudden death d/t cardiac arrythmias.
-Hypo-thyroidism --> cold intolerance, bradycardia
-ammenorhea, low bone density, dry scaly skin
-anemia, lymphopenia, hypoalbunemia
Bulimia
Also causes hypo kalemia and metabolic acidosis d/t throwing up. Tooth decay. Esophogeal and Gastric Ulceration

BMI >27 kg/M2
(normal is 18.5-25)
66% of pop is overwght or obsese.
Causes: NAFLD, metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, HTN, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, cholethisasis, etc.

Metabolic Syndrome put you at risk for:
atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, type II diabetes
Type II Diabetes
Progressive increase of insulin resistance in peripheral tissues. Pancreatic B islet cells can't keep up and make enough insulin.
