How long is the is the vagina and what does the mucosa consist of?
About 10cm

Mucosa consists of stratified squamous epithelium and CT that lies in a series of tranverse folds called the rugae.
What does the vaginal mucosa contain and its purpose?
Large amoutns of glycogen and when decompses produces organic acids that create a low pH environment that retards microbial growth.

Acidity also serves to injure the sperm (although the semen will try to neutralize the acidity)
What is the vulva? its corresponding parts and the male homologue?
Collective term for external genitalia:

1. Mons Pubis
2. Labia majora (homologue to scrotom)
3. Labia minora
4. Clitoris - exposed portion is called the Glans (homologue to the penis)
5. Vestibule: contains the hymen, vaginal oriface, urethra, and the opening of several ducts.
6. Skenes Glands: lesser vestribular glands which secrete mucus. (homogolous to the prostate)
7. Greater vestibular glands/Bartholins glands (bulbourethral or cowpers glands)
What is the perineum and the border?
The diamond-shaped area between the thighs and buttocks.

posteriorly by the coccyx

The wall of the vagina is lined by a non-keratinized (mucosa) stratified squamous epitheium.
