How long is the is the vagina and what does the mucosa consist of?

Mucosa consists of stratified squamous epithelium and CT that lies in a series of tranverse folds called the rugae. |

What does the vaginal mucosa contain and its purpose?
|
Large amoutns of glycogen and when decompses produces organic acids that create a low pH environment that retards microbial growth.
Acidity also serves to injure the sperm (although the semen will try to neutralize the acidity) |
