Stress/tension headache
muscle overuse and tension often to stress caused or tension headaches. Ache and pain is often present in neck shoulders and at base of neck. Massage indicated for relaxing tight muscular area (hypertonic)
Myositis
muscle inflammation
Contraindicated due to inflammation
Poliomyelitis
polio; a viral caused infection of nervous tissue tat controls skeletal muscle. Contraindicated due to inflammation.
Post Polio Syndrome
present in someone who has had polio. Muscle aches, low endurance, intolerance to cold and weakness are all symptoms. Get a physician's release!!
Myositis Ossificans
calcification begins to occur in myofascial layers. Can occur as part of an inflammatory response triggered by muscle trauma. Work around areas of deposit as long as no inflammation is present.
Tendonitis
inflammation of a tendon sheath. During acute phases, lymph drainage, post acute phase direct massage.
Tenosynoitis
inflammation of the tendon sheath. Contraindicated for direct manipulation during acute stage. once swelling is gone proceed with physician's release
Muscle cramp
a whole muscle goes into painful spasm. Do not massage during cramping. Stretching antagonist muscles to gently encourage muscle to let go.
