1. Show an array for 4x3. Find the product (answer).
Array: Three plates with four pasta bites (pieces) each, OR four plate with three bites each.

4x3=12.
2. Show an array for 2x6. Find the product (answer).
Array: Two plates with six bites (pieces) each, OR six plates with two bites (pieces) each.

Answer: 2x6=12.
3. Three of your friends want to eat dinner. Each of your friends wants 10 bites (pieces) of pasta each. How many bites (pieces) do you need to cook for them?

Show an array. Hint: You need one plate for each friend. Then write the equation and solve.
Array: Three plates (one for each friend) with ten bites on each one. You could NOT show ten plates with three bites on each one because you only have three friends- you don't need 10 plates.

Answer: 3x10=30
4. There are six people in your family, including you. Each person wants to eat 4 bites of pasta. How much pasta will your whole family eat?

Show an array. Hint: You need one plate for each person. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Six plates with 4 bites of pasta on each one. You could NOT show four plates with six bites on each one, because there are six people who want to eat. Four plates would not be enough.

Answer: 6x4=24
5. There are eight people who want some pasta. You have 16 pieces of
pasta to give out. How many pieces does each person get?

HINT: DO NOT MULTIPLY 16x8! That equals 128. You only have 16 pieces to give out, so there is no way each person could get 128! Use a different operation (not multiplication).

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Eight plates are put out. 16 pasta bites were counted out and divided up equally. There are 2 bites on each plate.

Answer: 16-8=2.
6. There are six people who want some pasta. You have 30 pieces of pasta to give out. How many pieces does each person get?

HINT: DO NOT MULTIPLY 6x30! That equals 180. You only have 36 pieces to give out, so there is no way each person could get 180! Use a different operation (not multiplication).

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Six plates are put out. 30 pasta bites are divided equally among each plate. Five bites are put on each plate.

Answer: 30-6=5.

7. You have cooked 54 bites of pasta. You want to make sure each
of your guests gets to eat 6 bites. How many guests can you
invite?

HINT: The answer is NOT 324!

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array Fifty-four bites were counted out. Each guest wants 6 bites, so one plate was taken out and six bites were put on it. Then another plate was taken out and six were put on it. When all the bites ran out, nine plates were filled so nine guests could be invited.

Answer: 54-6=9
8. You have cooked 18 bites of pasta. You want to make sure each of your guests gets to eat 5 bites. How many guests can you invite?

HINT: THE ANSWER IS NOT 90!

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Eighteen bites were counted out. Each guest wants 5 bites, so one plate was taken out and five bites were put on it. Then another plate was taken out and five were put on it. When all the bites ran out, three plates were filled so three guests could be invited.

Answer: 18-5=3.
9. You have cooked 30 bites of pasta. You have invited 4 people to dinner. How many bites will each person get?

HINT: THERE WILL BE LEFTOVERS (REMAINDERS)!

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Four plates were put out and thirty pieces were divided up equally among each plate. Each plate has seven bites, with two bites left over.

Answer: 30-4=7R2
10. You have cooked 60 bites of pasta. You have invited 7 people to dinner. How many bites will each person get?

HINT: THERE WILL BE LEFTOVERS (REMAINDERS)!

Show an array. Write the equation and solve.
Array: Seven plates were put out and sixty pieces were divided up equally among each plate. Each plate has eight bites, with four bites left over.

Answer: 60-7=8R4
