adult females in small intestine > migrate to anus and deposit fluid/eggs on perianal area > eggs mature to contain L3 (4-5d) > fluid flakes off to environment > horse ingests L3-containing eggs from environment > eggs hatch in small intesting to release L3 > L3 enters mucosal crypts of large intesting > L4 develops in large intestine, emerge into large intestine lumen to feed > develop into adults

large number of adults/larve result in colitis. Perianal itching due to fluid/eggs > tailhead rubbed bare
