What does an acetylcholine block/mimic do?
binds to certain insect receptor sites on the postsynaptic neuron which then prevents binding of acetylcholine, thus interrupting nerve transmission resulting in paralysis and death of the flea
What is a Cholinesterase inhibitor?
This functions as a synaptic poison by binding to and inactivating acetylscholinesterase thus not allowing the normal cleaving of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This causes a build up of the neurotransmitter in the synapse. In fleas this causes paralysis and death.
