Class: Sympathetic Agonist
Actions: Naturally occurring catecholamine. Potent A & B adrenergic Stimulant. B more profound Cardio Action: Increase in HR, Contractile force, electrical activity, vascular resistance, BP and automaticity. It also coverts fine V-fib to course. Effects appear w/in 90s but is short lived. Must readminister every 3-5m. Indications: Arrest - Asystole, V-fib, PEA, pulseless V-tach Symptomatic Brady Severe hypotension Severe anaphlyaxis Severe reactive airway disease contraindications: W/ simple allergic reactions and asthma 1:1000 should be used IM Side Effects: Palpitations, anxiety, headache, myocardial oxygen demand. Maybe partially inactivated by alkaline solutions such as Sodicum bicard. Precautions: Raising BP and HR may cause myocardial ischemia, angina, and increased myocardia oxygen demand. |
