Section 7

Each state is an electorate and each state must have atleast 6 senators. Parliament can increase numbers but equal rep must be maintained. Senators serve 6 year terms. Senate composed to represent the states

Appropriation/Money Bills must originate in HOR. Senate can only reject bills which are not providing "ordinary annual services." Ensures responsible gov and that Hor is house of gov because money is needed to govern.

Double Dissolution


Both Houses of their Parliament can be dissolved if Senate rejects the same bill twice in the space of 3 months . Called a trigger which PM can use by asking GG to call an early election. Trigger lasts until 6 months before an election.

HC is the highest form of court in Australia and should be made up of a Chief Justice and atleast 2 other justices #'s decided by p'ment. Pimento can give federal jurisdictions to other federal courts

Outlines Appellate Jurisdiction of HC. Hears appeals from other federal courts and interstate commissions (state courts). Judgement of HC final and decisive. Since 186 due to the Australia act no cases no longer go to the Privy Council.
