Pain |
"An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage. |

Nociceptive Pain |
Pain that occurs as a result of an injury, which with proper nervous system operation, sends a signal to the brain that an injury has occured. |
Can be further categorized and classified as somatic and radicular. |

Somatic pain |
Pain originating from deep tissue injuries like those affecting the bones and muscles. |

Radicular pain |
Originates from the nerve roots of the spinal cord and travels down the legs. |
Radiculopathy |

Neuropathic pain |
Occurs when the nervous system had been damaged and is not functioning in a normal manner. The source of this pain cannot be readily identified. |
