Pain transmission
-process begins when pain receptors (nociceptors) are stimulated
-this impulse is sent to the spinal cord via sensory neurons
-once it reaches the spinal cord, neurotransmitters (primarily substance B) controls whether it will be passed on to the brain
-if it then reaches the brain, it may respond to the sensation w/action such as signaling the skeletel muscles to jerk, pull away, etc
