What is the purpose of the aux lube oil pump?

To provide lube oil to the turbine and generator bearings, supply seal oil, and provide suction to the hydraulic pumps.

What is the purpose of the Hydraulic oil pumps?

They provide oil to the gas valves as well as the IGVs

What is the purpose of the lift oil solenoid?

Brings up the lift oil pressure to about 3100 psi to lift the turbine shaft for turning gear.

What is the purpose of the aux seal oil pump?

Provides a back up source of oil if the lube oil system fails or if needs to be taken out of service but want to keep the generator charged. The DC is for shutdown purposes only and not to be used for an extended amount of time.

Where does the generator normally receive it's seal oil from?

Lube oil system

Where do the hydraulic oil pumps take suction from?

Lube oil system

What is the typical seal oil differential pressure?

5 - 7 psid

Explain the process to completely remove the GT oil system from service. (On turning gear with H2).

Rack out TG breaker, verify shaft is at zero rpm. Ensure the AC seal oil pump is racked in, ensure the DC seal oil pump is racked in, rack out the DC lube oil pump, rack out the lift solenoid, rack out the standby hydraulic oil pump, rack out the running hydraulic oil pump, rack out the standby lube oil pump, rack out the running lube oil pump, verify AC seal oil pump starts, if not rack in lube oil pump until problem is fixed.

If the AC seal oil pump had to be rebuilt, would we be able to run with the DC pump?

No, there is only one pump with 2 motors on it.

Is it possible to run with #1 lube oil filter and #2 lube oil cooler in service?

No, when swapping one you must swap the other.

What is the lube oil temperature range?

120 - 130 F

What is the typical lube oil pressure?

100 to 130 psi

What is the typical hydraulic oil discharge pressure?

1600 psi

What is the typical lift oil pressure?

3100 psi

At what pressure would the standby aux lube oil pump start? Where is this switch located?

83 psi, the accessory module beneath the LO Guage panel.

What condition causes the turbine to trip on lube oil pressure?.

8 psi of oil pressure

What condition causes the turbine to trip on hydraulic oil pressure?

20 psi

Where are the Lube oil pressure trip switches located?

Accessory module and collector compartment.

What is the purpose of the lube oil mist eliminators?

Pull a vacuum on the lube oil tank and return lines to help with oil drainage from bearings

What should be done if the fire protection louvers are activated on the accessory module?

They should be reset prior to opening the door to avoid injury from the door as well as incampacitation due to CO2 asphyxiation.

What would be considered a high lube oil filter dp and what should be done?

20 psid, the filters should be swapped.

What is the purpose of the seal drain enlargement?

Seal oil returns to the SDE to remove H2 trapped in the oil.

What should be done in the event that the lube oil system was down and you lost the AC seal oil pump with H2 in the generator?

Start the LO pumps or purge the generator.

What is the start permissive on the GT for lube oil temp?

60F

What is the purpose of the GT trip solenoids?

Drops the oil pressure on the gas valves causing them to close.

What seal oil pressure would sound a low pressure alarm in the CCR?

4.5 psid

What seal oil pressure would trip the turbine on low pressure?

3.5 psid

What should be done to the AC seal oil pump when the lube oil system is returned to service?

It must be turned off manually by the switch on the front of the breaker.
