Define Osmosis (using water).

The movement of water molecules from a region of high water concentration to an area of low water concentration through partially permeable membranes.

What is a semi-permeable membrane? (also called partially or selectively permeable)

A membrane that allows certain particles in but not others. i.e: water and not dirt.

Where does Osmosis happen in plants?

Root and root tips.

How does water move through the root cells (not including the xylem)

Osmosis

What part of the cell holds water?

Vacuole

What happens to the cells' shape after Osmosis?

They become turgid or stiff.

Why is it important that the cells must become turgid through Osmosis?

So the plant can be held upright.
