Origin: (anterior) external surface of ribs 5-8 interdigitating with serratus anterior (lateral) external surface of 9th rib interdigitating with serratus anterior and external surface of ribs 10-12 interdigitating with latissimus dorsi; Insertion: (anterior) into a broad, flat aponeurosis terminating in the linea alba with direction downward and medially with uppermost fibers more medial (lateral) as the inguinal ligament, into anterior superior spine and pubic tubercule and into the external lip of anterior 1/2 of iliac crest with direction down and medially, more down than anterior fibers
Internal Oblique (196)
Origin: (lower) lateral 2/3 of inguinal ligament, a short attachment on iliac spine (upper) anterior 1/3 of intermediate line of iliac crest (lateral) middle 1/3 of intermediate line of iliac crest and thoracolumbar fascia; Insertion: (lower) with transversus abdominis into crest of pubis, medial part of pectineal line and into linea alba by means of an aponeurosis with transverse direction across (upper) linea alba by means of aponeurosis with medial and upward direction (lateral) inferior borders of ribs 10-12 and linea alba via aponeurosis with an upward and medial direction more than upper fibers
Transversus Abdominis (197)
Origin: Inner surfaces of cartilages of the lower six ribs, interdigitating with the diaphragm; thoracolumbar fascia; anterior 3/4 of internal lip of the iliac crest; and lateral 1/4 of the inguinal ligament; Insertion: Linea alba by means of a broad aponeurosis, pubic crest, and pecten pubis
