David wrote Psalm 51 as a result. Because of David’s sin the child dies. Then she gives birth to Solomon. Later she secures the throne for Solomon.

A prophet at the time of Nebuchadnezzar and Cyrus. His wisdom and faith earned him a position of


esteem under Nebuchadnezzar and Darius. (prophesy of weeks and distant future events).

Nebuchadnezzar –

The King of Babylon who had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace, for not


bowing down to worship a golden idol of himself. Crushes Jehoiachin’s revolt (2 Kings 24:10-17) and


destroys Jerusalem and captures Zedekiah (Jer 39:5-8).

The governor during the time of Israel’s return from captivity. He is mentioned by the prophet Zechariah.


A descendant of David and the leader of Jewish exiles (Neh 7:6; Hag 2:21). He rebuilds the Temple


(Ezra 3:1; Zech 4:1).

Ahasuerus –[Daniel 9]


King of Persia (Xerxes?) who took Esther to be Queen after Vashti. Father of Darius the Mede. Orders the annihilation of the Jews by Haman’s advice and reverses decree by Esther’s request. Exalts Modecai.

Served as governor of Samaria, the area north of Judah. Conspired against Nehemiah not to rebuild the

The last king of Judah, he was bad and Ezekiel was the prophet at this time. He was the uncle and


successor of Jehoiachin. Rebels against Nebuchadnezzar (2 Chron 36), denounced by Jeremiah (Jer 34).


He is captured and taken to Babylon (2 Kings 25).

The last of the prophets recorded in the Old Testament; he was a contemporary with Nehemiah. Name


means, “my messenger”.
