Naloxone
Antagonist = competes with opiods for receptor sites to neutralize their effects
Used to reverse or block opioid-induced analgesia, treat depression of CNS or respiratory system.
Used to reverse opioid overdosing!
Onset of action within min IV, IM, SubQ
Repeated doses needed bc action is shorter 1-2 hrs
Should be readily available whenever opioids are given.
