Spurling test
-compression test
-to test for cervical nerve root compression.
-W/ pt seated, extends and sidebends the C-spien to the side being tested and pushes downward on top of head.
-Test is positive if pain radiates into ipsilateral arm.
Adson's test
-test for thoracic outlet syndrome and assessment of subclavian artery.
-while monitoring pulse, the arm is extended at the elbow, should is extended, externally rotated, and slightly abducted. Pt to take a deep breath and turn head toward the ipsilatera arm.
-Positive test w/ a severly decreased or absent radial pulse.
Hip-drop
-to evaluate sidebending (lateral flexion) of the lumbar spine.
Straight leg raising test (Lasegue's Test)
-evaluate lumbar spine and in sciatic nerve compression.
-If expericing pain, cause liely due to hamstring tightness or problem w/ sciatic nerve.
Seated flexion test.
-assess sacroilial motion.
-somatic dysfunction is present on the side of superior PSIS.
Standing flexion test.
-assess iliosacral motion.
-somatic dysfunction is present on the side of superior PSIS.
