His name means salvation and he follows god’s command to marry Gomer, a prostitute. Gomer has three children two sons and a daughter whose names were each a message of God to the Isrealites (the children are not Hoseas). Gomer separates from Hosea and she becomes almost a slave. Hosea still loved her in spite her unfaithfulness and purchased her freedom.
