What happens after Saul dies?

Southern tribe appoints David as King. Saul’s chief commander Abner instates his son, Ish-Bosheth as king. War ensues between both regimes. Ish accuses Abner of sleeping with his wife, Abner goes to David’s team. Joab, David’s general seeks revenge on Abner for killing his brother and stabs him. Two of Ish’s men killed Ish and brought his head to David. David kills these men and the nation unites.

What happens when David becomes king?

David conquers the city of Jerusalem from the Canaanites and erects a palace and calls it Zion and brings the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem in a procession.

Recount the story of David and Bathsheba

David takes Bathseba who was the wife of Uriah and she becomes pregnant. David sends Uriah to die in battle. Nathan predicts calamity, child dies during birth. David and Bathsheba have a second son: Solomon.

Recount the story of David and Absalom

David’s Son Amon rapes his half sister, his older brother Absalom murders him and flees. Absalom plots a conspiracy against David and pronounces himself king. David flees and people weep. Absalom enters Jerusalem and puts together an army to attack David. David has enough time to put an army together and kills 20,000 of Absaloms followers. Absalom catches his head on a tree and Joab drives three spears into Absalom’s body. Jerusalem welcomes him back. Joab takes care of the remaining rebels by killing the leader. David rebuilds his throne.
