Composition
If the order of the terms is taken into account, the sum is called a composition and the number of compositions of n is denoted by c(n). For example, the compositions of 3 are 3 = 3, 3 = 1+2, 3 = 2+1, and 3 = 1+1+1, so that c(3) = 4
Partition
If the order of terms is not taken into account the sum is a partition and the number of partitions of n is denoted by p(n). For example, the partitions of 3 are 3 = 3, 3 = 2+1, and 3 = 1+1+1, so that p(3) = 3.
