Nuclear Accelerator:

A device that increases the velocity of a charged particle.
Nuclear Reactor:
A device for controlling nuclear fission.
Isotope:
Atoms of an element that have the same number of protons but different number of neutrons.
Containment Vessel:
A protective cover or shield that keeps radioactive material from escaping into the environment.

Moderator:

A material that absorbs neutrons and slows down a nuclear chain reaction.
Alpha particle:
A helium nuclei containing 2 protons and 2 neutrons. (has a positive charge)
Beta particle:
Electrons that are free of an electron cloud (it has a negative charge)
Gamma Rays:
High energy x-rays.
Nuclear Force:
Holds nucleons together in the nucleus over short distances.

Nucleons:

Are all subatomic particles found in the nucleus (protons and neutrons)
