Jamestown was settled by wealthy Englishmen and boys because they could afford the trip to America. Jamestown was located on a swampy peninsula with a lot of mosquitoes that carried disease. The settlers got sick, many died. The settlers were used to having servants doing work for them. They were more interested in finding gold than taking care of their food needs.
