Airline Code
The two letter alpha/alphanumeric code assigned to each airline.
Airport Code
The three letter alpha code assigned to each airport.
Baggage Allowance

Booking Code
The alpha characters used to denote a specific fare type when making a reservation.
Business Class
The airline class of service between first and economy/coach class.
Charter Carrier
An aircraft reserved exclusively for use by an organization or by a wholesaler who sells individual space to the public.
City Code
The three letter alpha code assigned to each city.
Class of Service
The actual compartment of the aircraft in which a reserved seat is located.
Code-Sharing
The practice of two airlines sharing a two-letter code in a GDS and on tickets.
Conjunction Ticket
Two or more ticket booklets issued in consecutive numerical order when an extensive itinerary does not fit on a single ticket.
Connection
Transferring from one flight to another at an intermediate point between origin and destination.
Direct Flight
A flight from origin to destination with one or more intermediate stops at which the passenger does not have to change planes.
Economy Class
An airline's class of service in which passengers pay the lowest fare and recieve the fewest amenities and least service.
Elapsed Flying Time
The actual time a flight is in the air, between a flight's takeoff and touch down.
Fare Basis
Every fare is identified by an alphanumeric code called the fare basis.
First Class
The class of service that costs the most and provides the most luxurious way to travel.
Gateway
The passenger's first point of arrival and last point of departure in a country or area.
Hub and Spoke
The airline practice of establishing bases at certain cities and feeding flights into the base from secondary cities.
Interline
Trave from origin to destination using more than one airline.
Leg
The segment of a flight between two consecutive points.
Minimum Connecting Time
The minimum amount of time required at an airport to change from one plane to another.
Non-Stop Flight
A flight from origin to destination with no intermediate stops.
Online
Travel from origin to destination using one airline.
Open Segment
A segment that is booked without a flight number, for the purpose of adding the appropriate number of coupons and fare to a ticket.
Routing
Refers to the connection cities allowed between origin and destination.
Scheduled Carrier
An airline that operates airplanes over fixed routes and according to a timetable.
Seat Pitch
The distance between rows of airplane seats.
Segment
Each flight of a passenger's itenerary.
Stopover
A deliberate interruption in a passenger's flight itinerary.
