You've flopped middle set. As we've seen before, that's a great hand because your opponent can make top pair a pair of kings and play along with you for a while... Set over set is too rare to consider..basically. We will mostly call but we will put in a raise with a few hands.
He checks... Bet 50%, ck 50% This is a slightly better bet to ck ratio than one might at first expect. To see why let's look at the flop more closely. If he doesn't have any high cards there isn't much money to win no matter what action you take. If he does have high cards the flop is slightly dangerous. If he has a K the flop is ideal for you and he will certainly call your bet and may raise it. But is he doesn't have the K he probably doesn't have the T as well (since 3 T's are accounted for). which leaves him with possible holdings of A-Q, A-J and A-J. hose are bad combinations for you since he can't call if you bet, but by checking he gets a free card to fill a straight and beat you. That's the worst possible

Raise 40% call 60%
You have an overpair your likely to have the best hand even after he bets. Raising 40% seems about right.
Var 1. he bets you raise he calls....If a blank comes and he bets again on the turn you have to face the possibility that he has a better pair than yours. In addition the pot is getting pretty big for a hand that was just the smallest possible over pair. Call 30% fold 70%. If he checks you should check behind him. Your problem now is that very few hands worse than yours will call a third bet, while not many hands better than AA-JJ you can fold. Keep the pot small and try to check it down.
He checks...Bet 80% ck 20%.. Your probably best but you don't have a monster hand by any means. Make your bet and get some money in the pot for someone with top pair or middle pair. Somebody with two high cards (like AK, AQ... will mostly go away but might stick around

Call 50%, fold 50%
This is an unfavorable flop but you are in position and you can't be sure he has an A or Q in his hand. He may simply be making his best move to win the pot. Folding half and calling half is the right balance.
Bet 40% check 60%.. Checking is a bit unusual since he was the agressor preflop and could be expected to make a continuation bet even if he missed his hand. It perhaps represents a slight bit of evidence that your hand may be good but not much more than that. You should bet a healthy amount since this may be your best chance to win the hand.
Var 2. He checks you bet he raises. Fold 100% of the time. Check-raising out of position is a strong move. Let the pair go.

You have flopped bottom set on a board which isn't particularly dangerous and is likely to have missed him. If he has a pair higher than T's, your play may be interpreted as top pair mediocre kicker oe even middle pair or some sort ofdraw. In any case calling should collect at least another bet or two down the road. Raising a small amount is necessary to balance some of the bluff raises we have made with nothing.
He checks... Bet 30% of the time check 70%
When the pre-flop agressor doesn't even bother to make a continuation bet on a an innocous board, you don't have much clear indication as to the clear strength of his hand. He may be trapping a big pair or he may just be balancing his own play. Here we are making a few bets to balance our play, and checking to let him know that the flop didn't help us either.

A brief note: Watching televised poker, even High Stakes poker, gives you a skewed idea of just how much action is in the average hand. N0-limit cash game poker contains far more checking and calling because raising although the best way to pull down a particular pot exposes you to potentially massive reraises and bluffs and brings up issues of pot commitment.

Thats an innocuous flop for a preflop aggressor so mostly you will have the best hand here. Why so few raises? Small hand small pot...You only have a pair of 4's after all. Stick around but don't go crazy trying to build a big pot here.

Analysis; His check, plus the texture of the flop indicates your hand rates to be good. Most cards that can come on the turn will make your situation worse, so concentrate on winnint the pot now with a high betting %.
Var 1. He checks you bet he raises.. On this flop his check-raise smells like a bluff. Call 50% and fold 50%. You may still have the best hand you still have 6 outs if you don't, and you have position.

You have a very strong hand with top pair and open ended straight draw. While it's true your opponent could have a flush or a flush draw, you can't allow a mere threat to force you to lay down a very good hand for an opening bet. So folding is out of the question and you have to balance calling and raising. I like to get aggressive with good draws but not overly aggressive so 30% raises seems right to me.
Var 1. He bets we raise we reraise.... We fold 70% of the time and call 30% of the time. The reraise moves us to a new level of danger. He's saying he has a set at the minimum. We are hoping that is the case because we are in big trouble against a made straight or a flush. Now we are mostly folding rather than drawing to a hand that may already be beaten. But we can't always lay down. Our draw may be good or it may be better than his draw or we may have the best hand right now and he could be on a flush draw. So we'll call 30% of the time and see what happens.

You don't have anything except two overcards and you could be beaten by a lot of hands. A small pair a single ace and so forth. You mostly need to fold when you have nothing and your opponent takes the lead. But since it'a a natural bluffing flop we'll mix in some calls and raises for balance.

You have middle pair an ace has appeared. Note that is your hand is best right now you don't have to fear any overcards (another ace won't hurt you since if he holds an ace he is already beaten). For that reason you can always call the first bet.
He checks... Bet 50% check 50%
If you don't have the best hand he doesn't have many outs so you don't need to fear a free card. Your check may induce a bluff on the turn. If your are worst your check will save a bet.
