Colossians 3:1-6

KillingSin

(1) Since, then, youhave been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ isseated at the right hand of God. (2) Set your minds on things above, not onearthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.(4) When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with himin glory. (5) Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. (6) Because ofthese, the wrath of God is coming.
Romans 6:11-14

Dead toSin

(11) In the sameway, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (12)Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evildesires. (13) Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments ofwickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been broughtfrom death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments ofrighteousness. (14) For sin shall not be your master, because you are not underlaw, but under grace.
Galatians 5:16

Relying onthe Spirit

Hebrews 11:24-26

Passing Pleasure ofSin

24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. 25He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy thepleasures of sin for a short time (fleeting pleasures). 26 He regarded disgracefor the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, becausehe was looking ahead to his reward.

1 Corinthians 4:7

Why compare

For who makes youdifferent from anyone else? What do youhave that you did not receive? And ifyou did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

1 Peter 5:5-7

Be Humble

5 Young men, in thesame way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselveswith humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’smighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety onhim because he cares for you.
