What is the treatment for a patient with a head injury? |
First 24hrs awaken person qh2-qh3 to assure easy arousal. Ask them if they know the time, place, their name, neuro checks; pupils apply ice bag for 20 mins qh1. |

Position the patient according to written orders NO EXCEPTIONS! Keep the head midline and prevent excessive hip flexion to promote venous drainage from the head & keep ICP from rising. |

Earliest signs are; lethargy, decreased consciousness, with slow speech & delay response to verbal cues. |
