ETIO: LMN lesion, parts of pyramidal tract, precentral gyrus, CN5,7,10,12

SSXS: atrophy, weakness, fasciculations, spasms, cramping
- 50% cases start in hands (1 or both)
-loss of musc mass (thenar, hypothenar, interossei, arm, shoulder)
-diff swallowing, coughing, speaking (bulbar nuclei involv)
-weakness, atrophy of tongue, includ laryngeal & pharyngeal m.
- resp insuff/aspiration pneumonia --> DEATH
Anterior Spinal Artery Syndrome
SSXS: paraplegia, spastic paraparesis, bilat. extensor response, bilat loss of PAIN & TEMP below lesion, impaired sexual fxn, PE, infection (bladder, lungs, decubitus)

ETIO: artery infarct, tumor, epidural spinal abscess
Central Medullary Syndrome?
SSXS: pain, weakness, HA, stiff back, shldrs, arms, legs can't feel "hot/cold" (hands usually)
- loss musc fxn & mass
- decr.sweating, sexual fxn, bladder/bowel control

ETIO: Syringomyelia, tumor, hemorrhage (most cerv.cord affected)
-dev ventrally--> pressure on ventral horn, ant. white commissure

LESION: lat & ant. corticospinal tract, ant. horn, or ALS
