What is the difference between CNS and PNS? |
CNS is the central nervous system for the brain and spinal cord, while PNS is the peripheral nervous system for all other nerves. |
What is difference between the Somatic nervous system and the Autonomic nervous system? |
The Somatic nervous system is with conscious control while Autonomic is without. |
Name the 3 types of Neurons. |
Sensory neuron, Interneuron, and Motor neuron. |
What happens at the Sensory neuron? |
The neuron picks up stimuli. |
What happens at the Interneuron? |
The neuron sends the stimuli to the brain. |
What happens at the Motor neuron? |
The neurons receive the response and react. |
There is a high concentration of Na+ outside the cell and a high [] of K+ inside the cell. STEP 1. |
Resting Potential. |
Na+/K+ pumps restore and maintain polarization of the membrane. STEP 2. |
Depolarization. |
Na+ gates close and K+ gates open, causing inside charge to become positive. STEP 3. |
Repolarization. |
A stimulus causes Na+ gates to open, causing inside charge to become positive. STEP 4. |
Returning to Resting Potential. |
Three effects before being chased by a dog. |
pupils dilate, release glucose, heart rate goes up. |
Three effects after being chased by a dog.
decreased blood flow, relaxed muscles, store glucose. |
