If the protoplasm is mixed together with a parts in a test tube. We do not have a living matter. Explain.

Because the components of the protoplasm must be put together in a certain way to create life.

Difference between living and non-living things, type of growth.

Living Things. Grow through the utilization of food, for ex, a kitten grows into a cat.

Nonliving things. Perform accretion. The addition of materials on the outside without causing a change on those materials. They only enlarge, no development is done.

Homeostatic adjustments which your body makes to changing conditions around you.

Sweating. When the temperature is high the body sweats to compensate for the high temperature.

Homeostatic Adjustment which may prove unfavorable to the organism because environmental conditions may have change.

The instinctive homeostatic response that leads moth to fly towards bright objects ( they are attracted to bright flowers). Instead of bright flowers those objects might be artificial light and it may be a trap.

Difference between short-term and long-term homeostatic responses.

Irritability. term for rapid short term responses. Long term homeostatic responses are slower and longer lasting, this individual adaptations.

Difference of Individual and Species Adaptation.

Individual adaptations, are homeostatic adjustments which benefit the individual but are not passed on tl descendants. Species adaptations, alters the genetic make up of an entire group so that individuals are born already adapted to the nature of environment.

Would species be better off if its genes never mutated?

No. Mutations provide an important source of variety which makes species adaptions possible. But there are cases that do not fut exactly.

Nature of living matter

1. Made of Protoplasm

2. Has cellular organization

3. Exhibits Growth

4. Expends energy from food

5. Shows homeostatic response to environment.

6. Shows species adaptation

7. Reproduces

8. Changes through Mutation
