I remember the day I saw my aunt, it had been a few years since we had met, and if I’m honest, time had not been kind to her. She had wrinkles on her face where there had been none before. Her hair was now partially white. I was surprised because at one time she had beautiful black hair, and smooth glowing skin. She asked me how she looked. I told her she had never looked better. That’s when my nose started to grow. I talked to her and she told me that she was beginning to notice little changes.

n

She no longer jogged in the park, did gymnastics and danced. She didn't have the energy to participate in social activities that at one time had been a big part of her life. To a big extent, how old you are is in your head. For example, to a five year old, I am a really old 14 year old person. But to a 80 year old person, I have just started my life and I am still this tiny person. Aging may be terrible, but it beats the alternative. When we are young we want to be old because we think that being old is great and fun. Today we will understand “What is Aging?, the history of aging?

ss

Our fear of Aging? What is Aging? Aging is the process of growing old and getting wiser. Aging has always been both good and bad. Good because it infers that our lifetime is increasing. And bad because Aging it comes with all kinds of problems. Humans have been getting old for over seven million years. You would think with that much practice we would be very good at it. The truth is we still have a hard time getting older. We put up with it because there isn’t much else we do. Religious Scholars say that Adam and Eve lived more than 900 years.

s

When Adam and Eve got old they didn’t have much they can do about it. There was no social security pension checks, no facilities and so they got old and died when the time came.. According to the Gunnies book of World records, the oldest person was a woman named Misao Okawa, Records show that she lived to be one hundred and seventeen years old. Other reports say that when she lit the candles on her birthday cake, the fire was so great that it burned down the building…. just kidding. The oldest person alive today is Emma Morano of Italy.

s

She is one hundred and sixteen years old. An article in Time Magazine reports that, on average, “women live 5 to 10 years longer than men”. There are many reasons for this but the main one seems to be that women are less stressed than men. Stress wears us out. As more and more women have careers, the stress level will likely become more equal with men. It is likely that before long, men and women will live about the same amount of time. Getting older is due to fact that our cells die. Dead cells are replaced with new cells but this process slows down as we age.

s

Given time, some cells are no longer replaced. When enough cells die and are not replaced with new cells, our body no longer works very well.
