strung in chains and forced to have eagle eat immortal liver everyday- liver grows back every night
How did Prometheus trick Zeus?
placed two settings before him- one held nourishment in ugly dressing, one held bones covered in "glistening fat"- Zeus chose latter and set precedent that humans would keep good stuff for themselves and !burn! bones as sacrifice for gods- origin of human's greedy nature

Pandora brought wedding gift- opened it and let all the sins of the world out but closed it before the last, hope, got out

peaceful lives, no conflict; Hesiod- live like gods, no grief, peaceful sleep= death; Ovid- Earth produced everything, no violence, no steep ditches
What were the differences/similarities between Hesiod and Ovid's Silver Age?
Hesiod- childhood was 100 years, grow up and die quickly- Zeus put away because no honor of gods; Ovid- man had to create shelters b/c of seasons, had to fight the winter, started using animals to work fields
What was Hesiod's extra age? Describe.
"Age of Heroes" = demi-gods- sons/daughters of gods- noble, more honorable, good warriors- "infamy"

worshipped Ares, god of war; magnificent weapons and armor; tools and homes made of bronze; great warriors

Hesiod- "us" never rest from labor/sorrow, wives don't like husbands, dishonorable children;

Ovid- weapons of iron (better, stronger than bronze), vicious nature, marked out land, brought up wealth from "bowls of Earth", invention of "stirrup"- better warfare– last age, but maybe not us
