Frogs at School

by George Cooper

Twenty frogies went to school, Down beside a rushing pool; Twenty little coats of green, Twenty vests so white and clean.

We must be in time, said they, First in study and then in play; That's the way we keep the rule, When we frogies go to school.

Master Bullfrog, grave and stern, Taught the classes in their turn; Taught them how to nobly strive,
Likewise how to leap and dive.

From his seat upon a log,
Taught them how to say cutchalk;
Also how to dodge the blows, From the stones the bad boys throw.

Twenty frogies grew up fast,
Bullfrogs they became at last; Not one dunce among the lot, Not one lesson they forgot.

Polished in a high degree,
As each frogie ought to be;
Now they sit on other logs
Teaching other little frogs.

mistake for food.

plastic soup

What other danger does plasticpose to the food chain?

Plastic absorbs toxins or poisons in the ocean water.

What happens when sea animals eat plastic?

Plastic cannot be digested. It can block an animals digestive system and cause it to die.

What is another type of trash causing problems in the ocean?

Discarded or lost fishing nets called 'ghost' nets.

What are 3 things you can do to help recycle?

Where does the trash go?

Into a Landfill. A large area set aside to collect trash, where it is flattened and buried.

Are there problems with landfills? (Name 3)

Yes there are problems with landfills.

1. In most landfills, garbage does not break down because very little air reaches it therefore it piles up.

2. New landfills must be created because the trash is not breaking down fast enough.

3. Rain falls on the landfill which mixes with the garbage, poisoning the rainwater. This poisoned water then pollutes the soil around and under the landfill which may become someone's drinking water.

What do you call the poisoned 'garbage' water?

Leachate

Can I recycle aluminum cans?

Yes. Aluminum cans are highly recyclable and will be back on the shelf with new liquid in them 60 days after they are recycled.

Can I recycle paper?

Paper products and cardboard are made from trees and are highly recyclable.

Does recycling save trees?

Yes.

Are trees important? Why?

Yes, trees are important.

1.Trees provide oxygen

Can I recycle glass?

What about grass clippings and apple cores?
