After a local anesthetic is applied, the physician places the tonometer lightly upon the eyeball and a pressure measurement is taken. Generally part of a normal eye exam for adults.
visual acuity test
test measuring eye's ability to distinguish object details and shape; Measurement of the sharpness of a patient's vision. Usually, a Snellen's chart is used for this test and the patient identifies letters from a distance of 20 feet.
